The BEST dairy nutritionists
December 21, 2019As dairy nutritionists we have the unique opportunity to work closely with a sector of the agricultural community that are among the most hardworking and passionate people. The nutritionists at Best Axis work hard to match this work ethic and passion by becoming part of our dairy client’s team. We travel all over the U.S. and abroad to spend time on farms and use the latest technologies to match the nutritional needs of each group of cattle we serve. Our mission is to educate and empower our clients to transform their operations and to reach new heights in their animal health, production, and returns.
Our number one job is to create high-performing diets and monitor the nutritional physiology of dairy cattle to ensure the animals are healthy and productive. Dialing in the nutritional needs of a high producing dairy cow is a challenging task, often she cannot physically consume enough feed to keep up with energy demands. As a dairy nutritionist, we use science and technologies to make every bite nutrient dense and count towards meeting her high demands.
What does a dairy cow eat? A dairy ration is built with high quality feed, and a lot of feed. A high producing dairy cow can consume 120 pounds or more of feed in a single day. Most U.S. dairy rations include high quality forages like corn silage and alfalfa, energy dense concentrates, high quality proteins, and specific minerals and vitamins that help her meet her requirements and produce milk.
A team approach is truly necessary to achieve a healthy and productive herd. Best Axis is blessed to be a part of several great dairies. As dairy nutritionists, we work with our customers as a team to help plan which forages to grow, and how to navigate the constant weather challenges associated with growing feed for dairy cattle. We also help least cost other commodities that complete the daily requirements of dairy cattle so that the ration is not only meeting the cow’s potential, but doing so in the most cost-effective way. We are also available to assist in trouble shooting any challenges that arise on individual dairy farms so that cows will excel at making milk and reproducing to ensure sustainability and profitability. Best Axis believes our clients success’ is our success.
